Installing phpMyAdmin on Ubuntu

Ubuntu version: 10.4

This is on a localhost

1. Open a terminal and type the command (supply the root password)

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

2. Open a web browser and use the below address to access phpmyAdmin

If you have a dedicated server where you MySQL database has been set up then in the address replace the “localhost” with the “server domain address” or the “ip address of the server”

3. If this does not work then Go the /var/www/ folder. There must be a new folder called phpmyadmin inside it – if not then we have to create a symbolic link to the folder using the command

sudo ln -s /usr/share/phpmyadmin /var/www

Refresh the page to access phpmyadmin.
